As deadly new strains of the virus sweep across Europe and governments consider new regulations regarding face coverings, attention has once again turned towards FFP2 and FFP3 classified masks.
Austria and Germany have already updated their official guidance to require the use of medical grade masks in public spaces. It is likely other nations will follow suit.
Graded FFP2 masks are “composed of three layers of synthetic non-woven materials, available in different thicknesses, with the inclusion of filtration layers between.”
These masks also fit closer to the face, ensuring that air has to filter through the mask, not
just around it. Together, these factors result
in filtration efficiency rates in excess of 94% – a significant improvement over the current
standard of cloth masks.
